The books on January’s edition of Dad’s Bookshelf all have a theme of following your passions and being yourself at their heart. It’s a theme that always draws me to children’s books, and these three books do it remarkably well. And they also happen to be beautifully crafted as well.
This month we are going to be giving away a copy of our favorite picture book of all time - Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Jon Klassen. It’s a modern masterpiece as far as I’m concerned. It features a wonderful role model and a despicable villain - and it feels just like a classic fairy tale.
Just Because by Mac Barnett and Isabelle Arsenault is one of the best bedtime picture books ever created. It’s drop-dead gorgeous and hilarious, and it will help you develop that perfect zen attitude to answer all of your kids’ questions.
